Photography workshop day

This popular day combines photography tuition with practical photography at the best place to get close to a wide range of British Wildlife.

Here you will be able to photograph red squirrels, foxes, wildcats, otters, polecats, badger and harvest mice a well as several owls and birds of prey. By working inside fox and wildcat enclosures with a keeper, you can get close to the animals without an intervening fence. Bring plenty of memory cards and spare batteries – you will end up shooting many more frames than you expect!

Photography Lecture – Pollination – visual insights, Bath Society of Botanical Artists (BSBA)

September 18, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Photogaphy lecture by Heather Angel in Bath 18th September 2015

Venue: BRLSI, 18 Queen Square, Bath BA1 2HN during the Bath Society of Botanical Artists (BSBA) exhibition The Art of Pollination which is on view 10 – 28 September 2015 from 10am – 4pm (closed Sundays) at BRLSI

Photography lecture

Heather will show – via her exciting photography – fascinating ways flowers entice and deter their array of pollinators and the rewards they offer to lure then back. High speed flash captures pollen release by simulating buzz pollination and ultra violet flash reveals UV floral guides hidden to our eyes.

Working at Kew in her own garden and travelling to 20 countries, Heather Angel has captured images that provide an intriguing insight into how flowers communicate with their pollinators. Some change colour – over all or part of the flower – when the flower no longer has rewards on offer. Others control precisely when pollinators enter or leave by the time they open and close their petals or when they emit a scent.
